Despite your level of motivation, rest is an invaluable part of living an active life.
That’s why NBC’s health and lifestyle blog, “Better,” recently highlighted five scenarios when it’s best to “hang up your sneakers” and take an off day.
In doing so, they talked with our own OceanView Rehabilitation director, Gregory Marcolin, PT, who was featured as an expert in the piece.
The author of the article, titled “5 Times When You Should Skip Your Workout and Take a Rest Day,” turned to Gregory to discuss the science of muscle soreness.
“The soreness that is experienced is the body repairing the muscular fibers in order for growth to occur for the future,” Gregory said. “Rest is needed in order for the body to repair the damage (however small) that has occurred.”
